Recent news that Dodge would no longer support the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is strongly suggesting that America’s number three automaker is seriously reconsidering every single one of its marketing and publicity ventures. The NASCAR exit shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone in light of the automakers’ big losses and huge need to raise capital.

But Dodge’s departure from NASCAR does shine the light on what could be additional changes to the motorsports industry: cash strapped Ford and GM might also be looking at ways to trim nonessential expenses turning the Dodge void into a gaping hole one that could threaten NASCAR’s survival or at least its broad appeal.

Dodge’s parent Chrysler LLC hasn’t been a big player in the truck series of late supporting only one team Bobby Hamilton Racing. The automaker is well represented in both car series winning several races this year while accumulating numerous top ten finishes. Still even in auto racing Toyota GM and Ford dominate lavishing their teams and cars with cash in a bid to pull down more wins each year.

There is another matter which could create a gaping hole in the motorsports industry that no one is talking about yet. The Big 3 automakers General Motors Ford and Chrysler are pursuing what amounts to be a 50 billion lowinterest loan package from the federal government to help the automakers transition their product lines from trucks and SUVs to small cars.

That plan is working its way through Congress and is expected to gain widespread partisan support and end up on the president’s desk for his signature. Though President Bush hasn’t tipped his hand yet on whether he’ll approve the legislation or not the legislation could be delayed until the next president takes office in January 2009.

What isn’t known is what Congress will demand in return for low cost loans. Some analysts are speculating that Congress will require that the monies fund specific programs including hybrid vehicles and alternative powered engines and related technology. A handful of people are thinking that Congress may use the loan guaranty as a way to force the automakers to divest themselves of unrelated programs which conceivably could include NASCAR participation.

Regardless of the strings attached additional changes are coming which will shape the future of General Motors Ford and Chrysler LLC. A NASCAR truck series departure for Dodge may not sound like a big deal but it underscores the financial difficulties found in America’s auto industry and the political help needed to see the companies through these difficult times.

A garage technician might have big dreams of working around NASCAR racecars but will keep those dreams in check because they know they are not trained to work on that equipment or any other high performance engines for that matter. The typical garage mechanic might be able to repair a street model automobile but it takes a lot of training to work among motorsports finest.

The automobiles that are part of the NASCAR motorsports realm are not the everyday automobile. They might fall under automobile manufacturing names that are well known throughout the automobile industry but they are not the kind that are easy to care for in a local garage. The engines used are tooled to be precision instruments that are capable of achieving over 200 miles per hour in the stretch. To enable the engines to maintain those speeds requires the care and expertise of a graduate of the NASCAR automotive schools.

Automotive engineers and the whim’s of the car’s owner might have the NASCAR racing machines in the garage for inspections at any time. They might craftily mold the body parts to exact specifications and match sure that all emblematic decals are perfectly matched. It will be the responsibility of these motorsports technicians to ensure that they car can race every weekend and if parts need to be order and installed by race day it is there job to do it.

Since there are many automobile manufacturers included in the mix that lines up at the starting line of NASCAR races week to week there is a dire need for qualified technicians that have been thoroughly trained to meet the racing engine needs. A simple class in automotive mechanics will just not be sufficient enough to make repairs on vehicles that run at such high speeds more than 40 weekends out of the year. This type of need requires someone that is fast and a fan of racing.

Many automotive mechanics would jump at the chance to earn a career opportunity that allows them to work on NASCAR engines. There is a wide range of courses available that can be taken online with significant discounts on tuition to those that qualify. The training will be very thorough and all applicants can look forward to learning all about engines and how to be a member of a professional pit crew. The training courses move at a brisk speed which fits in well with the world of racing.

To achieve training to work among NASCAR motorsports finest requires training time in the classroom and on the racetrack too. The typical automotive mechanic might learn a thing or two about performance engines when they delve into those engines in a class filled with their peers. The people that graduate from the NASCAR automotive schools are wellrounded people who have dug in and learned things that they never knew were possible. NASCAR will expect high performance out of the graduates of the schools because they have a lot of money riding on the equipment and the driver that sits in the front seat.

This is NOT NASCAR

By Jan Luparell

If you think of these numbers who do you think of? 9 20 or God Bless 3? If youre thinking Casey Kahne Tony Stewart or Dale Earnhardt then not only are you at the wrong race but youre also about to get a lesson in fast paced excitement and what fanfriendly really means.

9 belongs to Jay Springsteen Rookie of the Year in 1975. Just one year later he earned the title of Grand National Champion and kept that title from 19761978 not an easy task in one year let alone three. The two traits he shares with Kahne are a quick smile and a fierce determination.

20 is Johnny Murphree Rookie of the Year in 1997. Not a bad start for the nineteen yearold Californian. While he is a fierce competitor like Stewart hes never had an anger issue.

God Bless 3 is Ricky Graham. Like Earnhardt this multitime champion had a quick mind and a deeply rooted love for racingFlat Track Motorcycle Racing.

Flat Track Motorcycle Racing is one of the oldest forms of motorized racing in the world. It is the birth mother of road racing at one time being part of the series somewhat like a road course is part of NASCAR. Like the car races Flat Track raced on the sands at Daytona and still starts the Series there each March.

Still thinking about stock cars? Okay take away the HANS device. That shouldnt be hard since its only been mandatory for a few years. Take away the customfitted seat the roll bar; remove the body of the car. Now take away two wheels and the replace the steering system with handle bars.

Still with me? Replace the fire suit with leathers. Take away the driving booties; replace with heavy boots and add a steel shoe to the left foot. Got the picture? The speed stays up; by the way did I mention Flat Trackers do it on dirt? Now you have the right idea!

Arguably one of the NASCARs premier races is Talladega. So what? Flat Track Racing has the Springfield Mile!

The Springfield Mile is the fastest dirt track in the world; people come from around the world to watch these athletes give their all in an attempt to win the coveted trophy. Imagine going into a corner at over 100 milesper hour on two wheels! The perfectly groomed black dirt and clay gumbo make that a reality. Suzukis HarleyDavidsons Hondas Aprillasmake the laps in 36 seconds or less.

Lap after incredible lap at speeds so dangerous it makes you weak in the knees. One lap to go then the checkered flag is flyingwho won? Photo finishes are the standardalmost. While the photos are being reviewed fans flood the track and the infield ready to celebrate with the winner or seek out their favorite racer.

No helicopters come to whisk them away so finding that racer doesnt take long and that racer is ready to share a few handshakes a picture here and an autograph theremany racers have pictures theyll autograph and give out. Chances are very good that you may have shared the same hotel with the racers seen them in the restaurants and you might even go to a party where they are at. Flat Track is very fan friendly.

So if you start playing number games in racing better clarify which race discipline. All discussions go much better if everyone is on the same page. See you at the track!

The Nascar Points Rating System

Nascar uses a points and rating system of rules to award its drivers. Now the prize money is not the only thing that matters. The points also count. Let’s now take a gander at the history of the Nascar points system. From 1949 when Nascar began to 1951 Nascar awarded points on the base of the position in the race. The 1st position got 10 points the second got 9 points and so on. These points were increased by the 0.05 race purse. Then from here until 1967 the winners were awarded points on a linear scale.

From 1949 to 1971 Nascar tried six different point and rating systems before they reached the current rating system. In 1972 Nascar inaugurated a new points system. Then three various systems were tried for three various years. The systems were strange in some of the cases. Some counted mileage; some counted the finishing position as well as the mileage. There were complaints coming in from fans. The points system was not favorable. There was a Nascar champion that had won just one race in his career. The bigger races had more points. Those who won the bigger races eventually scored more points than their counterparts who had won more races.

The Current System Comes Into Existence
It was in 1975 that the current points system was developed. Two forms of this system were again tried from 1982 to 1998. In this system the points were awarded according to the final position and the number of laps covered during the race. There are three scales again for the number of points that a person can receive according to his finishing position. In the current system the winner receives 180 points the 2nd place gets 170 and so on with 10 points separating the winner from the next position. Then after the 2nd position the first scale starts. In this scale 5 points separate one position from another. This scale lasts from the 2nd to the 6th position. Then from the 7th to the 11th position the second scale comes into effect. Four points separate one position from another and in the last scale 3 points separate one position from another.

Other Points
There are other points also that come into the picture. For every lap that is completed a racer gets 5 points. There is also an additional 5 points awarded for the most number of laps based on lap leadership. Driver points are also counted. If a driver is replaced during the race then the points earned by the replacement driver still count toward the original driver’s tally.

Owner points are also given to the owner of a car. For every car that qualifies for the race the owner points given are the same as driver points.

Nascar – Tony Stewart Wins The Sprint All-Star Race
Last Saturday it took place the Nascar Sprint AllStar Race one of the most important and special events as much for the fans as for each one of the drivers who managed to classify for this huge event that has the particularity of not been taken into account for the general classification. Therefore the one that manages to finish first does not get points; instead he gets the enormous amount of a million dollars as the prize of the race. For this season the exciting competition was held at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway where the recognized driver Tony Stewart was the one who managed to be crowned as champion. This was a great moment for Stewart since it was his first triumph on the present season in which in addition to being a driver he is making a debut as owner of its own team the Stewart Haas Racing for which him competes on the No. 14 Chevrolet Impala. Saturday night started with the Sprint Showdown race in which Sam Hornish Jr. was the winner whereas Jamie McMurray finished in the second position. These were the two drivers who had the great opportunity to compete in the maximum challenge. Another lucky driver who got placed on the list of the most famous men in Nascar was the rookie Joey Logano who won a place on the grid because he received the greater amount of votes from the fans. With the exit order established it started the contest of the AllStars a tough challenge where beforehand each one of the pilots knew that they would have to give the best of themselves since the excitement generated just by fact of being part of something so wonderful along with the encouraging monetary aspect were factors that would generate a hardfought battle with a high degree of difficulty. This time the AllStar Race was divided in four stages; the first one had a distance of 50 laps which was completely dominated by Jimmie Johnson followed by Jeff Gordon and Kurt Busch who disputed the second position. The second stage was controlled by Kyle Busch who in spite of risking his position when doing a change of tires was able to advance at full speed to be placed at the head of the race. On the third stage it appeared a yellow flag due to an accident between Gregg Biffle and Sam Hornish Jr. Later on the green flag showed up and affected Kyle Busch as Jeff Gordon took advantage of the situation and went ahead to be placed in front where he stayed until the end of the stage. The motivation of the enormous amount of money of which the final prize consisted turned the fourth stage on an exciting and ferocious confrontation between the leader Jeff Gordon Kyle Busch Ryan Newman and Matt Kenseth who managed to catch the attention of all those who were there. It was right in the middle of all this where Stewart appeared and in a very talented and skillful way managed to surpass them one by one advancing quickly and positioning himself at the head where he stayed until the checkered flag waved with which the veteran and famous driver was awarded with the millionaire victory.

Nascar: Stewart Achieves His First Victory Of The Year At Talladega

Tony Stewart survived to a pair of dangerous accidents and a leader record figure to win the AMP Energy 500 on Sunday. Stewart contained the strong attack of the rookie Regan Smith who in the last lap did a reckless surpass below the yellow line trying to conquer the twotime champion.

NASCAR rules prohibit surpass below the yellow line that separates the racing surface of the lower part of the trail.

It was the first triumph of Stewart in the Talladega Superspeedway and was the end of a day full of action in which many of the main contenders were eliminated of the race due to a chaotic accident at only 14 laps left.

The accident took place when Carl Edwards’ Ford tried to push one of his Roush Fenway Racing teammates Greg Biffle causing his car to spin and that created a chain reaction in which there were cars punched everywhere including five of the Chase for the Sprint Cup drivers: Edwards Greg Biffle Kevin Harvick Matt Kenseth Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the cars of other seven drivers that are not part of Chase.

The drivers Juan Pablo Montoya Travis Kvapil Dave Blaney Michael Waltrip and Reed Sorenson withdrew or they resulted seriously damaged in the accident. Regan Smith’s teammate Paul Menard finished second. Smith was displaced to the 18th place for his infraction to the rules as soon as the officials revised the end of the race.

Point’s leader Jimmy Johnson’s result was unusual because although he was in the head in a moment of the race he lost a lap at the start of the race finished in the ninth position and never was really competitive in the race. Kyle Busch another leader finished fiftieth and didn’t have a good race either. Harvick finished 20th after being a serious contender.

In front of an excited multitude the better NASCAR drivers offered the spectacle that the people expected action side by side and defense against defense since the start. Kvapil the pole position winner headed for a lap then Edwards and so on.

The crowd cheered in the lap 25 when Earnhardt took the leadership for the first time. The Johnson’s day did not go so well therefore lost a lap when his Chevy had problems with the motor. Kvapil went again at the front in the lap 30. The first yellow flag of the afternoon fell in the lap 34 with Earnhardt at the front.

After the pit stops Burton went quickly at the head but was surpassed by Kenseth. Vickers received a great push from Johnson that fought to recover his lap. Sadler went at the front and then Mears headed a lap.

Another yellow flag of caution slowed the group in the lap 45 with Mears at the front. Sadler was the leader when left the green flag in the lap 49. Ryan Newman finished with a decomposed motor and Kyle Busch went at the front with a push of Hamlin.

Kurt Busch left before Gordon and David Reutimann were punched in the lap 52. Apparently a tire cut by Reutimann caused the accident. Vickers was in the front when the lap 59 restarted with Kvapil Mike Skinner Kyle Busch and Sorenson behind him.

After that Jamie McMurray obtained the leadership and he was alone but suddenly Earnhardt pushed Truex towards the head. Then Earnhardt went in the front again and then Montoya right after.

The race continued this way changing the leadership of the race every couple of laps. But then again the finish line favored Tony Stewart at last for the first time in the season.

Nascar Sprint Cup Series: Biffle Adds Another Victory

For the second consecutive time Greg Biffle managed to advance in the final section of the Camping World RV 400 Sprint Cup race at Dover International Speedway taking the victory and overcoming the leaders and favorites to win this particular competition. Biffle certainly surprised many of us with his brief running to grasp the title.

The Nascars driver Biffle was able to closely drive for most of the race next to the race leaders but at the point when there were only 15 laps remaining he competed against his teammate Matt Kenseth; this was a very exciting part of the competition as Biffle constantly tried to surpass Kenseth in each lap but Kenseth put up a good race but finally Biffle overcame him with an absolute win.

On the other hand Carl Edwards achieved a third place despite trying very hard to obtain a better place. He was then followed by Mark Martin in the fourth place driving a Chevy and the twotime champion Jimmie Johnson arrived in fifth place.

Among the top ten positions also were: Kevin Harvick Jeff Gordon Clint Bowyer Jeff Burton and Michael Waltrip. Eight of these ten drivers had previously competed in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship except for Martin and Waltrip. One driver that did not have a good performance as expected was Kyle Busch who ended the race in the 43rd position which was the last place.

Despite the fact that it was a very splendid day for Nascars racing it was not such a good day for Busch neither David Gilliland as they both collided hardly against the retention wall. Another crash was that of Patrick Carpentier which lost control of his Dodge in the first curve striking the defense of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase contender Carl Edwards.

Another driver Jeff Gordon showed his skills and speed while taking a privileged position along with Hamlin Kenseth Jamie McMurray Martin Dale Earnhardt Jr. David Reutimann Bowyer Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr.

During the 64th lap Joe Nemechek caused another yellow flag when his Chevy burst a front wheel and struck the external wall. Some other remarkable drivers who rose to top positions and finished seeded in the top ones were: Reutimann Johnson Bowyer Burton and the race winner Biffle. Toyotas AJ Allmendinge’s caused another yellow flag some laps later when hitting the retention wall. The sparks continued shortly after the yellow flag when Robby Gordon was put behind McMurray this certainly changed the race which at half point of the competition the Nascar driver Hornish crashed again in the 187th lap.

Another highlight of the race was the good performance and rising of the Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya who achieved a 17th place. He has also been improving race after race as he seems to be getting more comfortable with the vehicle he is now driving he is one of those drivers that will sooner than later surprise us with an unexpected victory in the short run.

Nascar was always criticized for the lack of safety ordinances in its races. But since 2001 after a series of accidents killed many peak drivers including the illfated lastlap wreck of Dale Earnhardt Nascar had to disengage and modify its position on this. It has now begun to bring in safety devices and accessories.

The Seat
The Seat has evolved over the last few years. The seat in a racing car is designed to contract and distribute the impact over a greater part of the body in case of a wreck. The rib cage is one area where the force of a crash can get centered. Another area is the shoulder. This will contract the impact and it will not get centered on one particular area which can often be fatal.

Harnesses
Now Nascar has updated its norms and the HANS device is now mandatory. Earlier the Hutchens device was all that was required. But since the accidents the norms have converted.

The Seat Belt
A very fundamental accessory when it comes to the safety of the driver. In Nascar the sixpoint seat belt is utilized. In this system two straps come over the drivers shoulder and two come over the waistline. One strap even comes up between the legs of the driver.

The Restrictor Plate
This is a very important accessory that reduces power on the racing circuits. This is placed in between the carburetor and the intake manifold. It confines air flow and subsequently power as well. Since this addon was made mandatory in highspeed racing circuits like Daytona the speeds have reduced considerably.

Today in order to see high speeds the spectator has to go to certain race courses where the restrictor plate is not required. In such race courses high speeds like 230mph have also been achieved. But the restrictor plate has become a mandatory part in most race circuits by Nascar.

Barriers
The new S.A.F.E.R Steel and Foam Energy Reduction barriers have been put in across most Nascar race courses. This will absorb a lot of zip from the car in case of a crash. This is much better than a concrete wall which does not absorb any energy at all. There are some other types of softer walls and barriers as well. Cellofoam barriers are also very popular. The PEDS system which involves the use of small cylinders inside bigger ones is also a popular form of barrier.

Compression barriers were also used in earlier times. This involved the use of soft materials like tires over the walls and then covering it up with a soft surface. This guaranteed that the walls came back to their original shape as soon as the impact was over.

NASCAR Online TV Live: RaceView Advantages And Disadvantages

The most excellent innovation with NASCAR online TV live is the NASCAR RaceView. It is not only a program that allows you to have control over your racing experience but it also lets you watch the race in a 3D multi angle perspective making you see most of the action of live racing from three virtual camera views. With this you can now witness what it is like at the front end of your favorite driver’s car from a different point of view and see all the other cars chasing fast from behind using the draft view. Aerial views also give you the chance to see all the cars in front of your driver’s car.

Using this program to watch NASCAR online TV live you can then choose what car you would like your eyes to be hooked into. Moreover you will also receive tons of updated information about the race. Some of the important fine points include track pit statistics crash updates and all of the driver’s positions in the rankings which are continually changing based on real time. To top it all you can also eavesdrop or listen to how the different drivers of each team communicate with one another and how your favorite driver does his own talk as well. All of these are very exclusive features that make you informed at all times. Truly with this program you will practically get all of the complete action using the convenience of your own personal computer. Raceview may be playing a major role in the evolution of NASCAR telecasts.

NASCAR online TV live seems to eliminate all drawbacks in ordinary racing telecasts. The most common of which is the camera attention that some drivers are receiving is way too much compared to what other drivers get. If your favorite driver is one of the top brass in the racing industry then he will surely be highlighted in all of the racing broadcasts no matter whom or what organization is covering the event. Yes it is true.

Unless your driver can manage to race up to the top of the game then he will continue to plunge deeper into becoming a “nobody” in the racing scene. This is what usually happens to the dozens of the other lower ranked drivers eating the dirt behind the top five.

The solution to this problem is the RaceView tool or program. Now there is a brand new definition to NASCAR online TV live. Its three dimensional type of viewing gives you some accuracy with what the actual race really looks like. However is this program purely remarkable or what? RaceView does have its own list of pitfalls. Like the popular NASCAR 1990s video game the video seen when you use the program does have the same look as the computer game. Some of the car’s behavior may even seem very unlikely and the overall images of the cars seem to become a little hazy at times. The worst that could possibly happen is watching the race like the cars are moving backwards.

Yes this is no exaggeration because there had been many reports from the program’s customers regarding these visual flaws. Maybe it was even more annoying seeing your favorite race get transformed from its original picture quality into something comical. Lastly the loading time of the program usually takes several minutes to start thus for the impatient viewers this is really going to be a pain on the back.

About the writer: The easiest way to NASCAR Online TV Live is to use the TVChannels2PC Internet TV Software. For a small onetime investment you can watch over 3000 channels with movies full episodes music live sports news weather and more. Why pay more for Satellite and Cable?

Nascar Nationwide Series: Carl Edwards Obtains His First Victory

Carl Edwards has recently become the winner of the Nationwide Series which took place last Saturday at the Michigan International Speedway. This was the nineteenth victory for Roush Fenway Racing team in Michigan but the first so far in the series.

Both favorite drivers to win the competition Stewart and Edwards began the competition in good shape and Edwards who was driving the Roush Fenway Racing’s Ford headed without problems during the 125 laps required at the two miles track.

I am so happy to have won. We had been so close before. I do not know how we were able to win over Tony. He was very fast. The car was genial during the whole day” stated Edwards after finishing the race.

This is Edwards third victory of the year in the Nationwide Series but during this race Edwards was ahead for the most laps and a time difference of 35 seconds ahead of Vickers. Unfortunately for Efland he crashed at the starting of the final lap and only managed to finish the race with the yellow flag.

On the other hand Vickers himself stated that he left sad as despite of his constant efforts and hard work to win one of the races he has not been able to be successful at it perhaps he also needs to bit of luck to his favor.

There is also a question regarding the efficiency of the vehicles driven by Edwards Ford and Vickers Toyota. Vickers believes there is a manner of the machines power involved and the technology implemented by both teams.

Another driver who had a good weekend was Tony Stewart who finished third in the race followed by Mark Martin Greg Biffle Mike Bliss and the 18 yearold rookie Joey Logano.

By the end of the present season Stewart will become the StewartHaas Racing driver and owner he is very pleased with his decision as well as the way he has been performing during this campaign. His new project will be very demanding and he is looking forward to a new beginning. He has won a total of five races and he is already a strong candidate for the upcoming competitions.

The highlight of the race was the crash of Clint Bowyer and David Reutimann in the final part of the race but there was no need for medical assistance. Edwards has to his account a total of 16 victories and 113 points just behind Bowyer. Keselowski who finished in the eleventh position has a total of 132 points. Now all drivers are heading to Bristol next week for the decisive race.

Nevertheless there are always questions and doubts about the drivers the vehicles the mechanical teams and the strategies used on the track but that is the way Nascar racing unveils its good and bad moments. One thing is certain and that is we will see more action throughout the remaining races and more new talents appearing every day.
